My Story
Emily Hall grew up in Baptist churches that loved Lottie Moon and held up her life as an example to follow.
As an adult, the more Emily uncovered about this missionary legend, the more she became interested in Lottie’s childhood. Who was this woman who was raised on a Virginia plantation by a Baptist family of slave owners and who thought church was a waste of time as a child? Emily was determined to find out.
After seven years of researching Lottie’s history and studying the art of fiction, Emily is excited to get Becoming Lottie Moon, her historical fiction novel about Lottie Moon’s growing-up years, into your hands.
Before Emily Hall started on this writing and publishing journey, she graduated from Liberty University with a journalism degree. She gained a year of journalism experience in Washington D.C., moved to Richmond, Virginia and married the kindest man she’s ever met.
Emily Hall writes historical stories that you can learn from with nuance and grace. She is fueled by cookie dough, kickboxing, and library visits. Whether it’s the Library of Virginia, local historical society libraries, or taking her toddler to story time, Emily loves spending time in libraries.
In the world outside of books, Emily always enjoys when grandparents visit so that she and her husband can sneak away on a date…and then rush home because they miss their baby girl!
Oh! That my words could be as a trumpet call, stirring the hearts of my brethren and sisters to pray, to labor, to give themselves to this people.
